Our Events
Psyclone Sports is producing several events for 2008: The Boston Runner Super Sunday 5K/10K running race, the Turtle Pond Circuit Race, and day two of the New England Race Week series. The annual success of the Turtle Pond Circuit Race, now in its fourth year under Psyclone’s direction, prompted the team to look into hosting more athletic events closer to home in Boston. New this year, both the Boston Runner Super Sunday race and the soon-to-be-announced 2nd event of the New England Race Week series take advantage of the region's exploding endurance sports culture, providing competitive opportunities for runners and cyclists alike.
Charitable Endeavors
Psyclone's events serve the more important purpose of racing for a cause well beyond competitive personal records or podium finishes. In a city known more for its world-class cancer and research hospitals than for its huge running and cycling population, Psyclone Sports’ events raise money for organizations like The Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Community Outreach
Through a partnership with the Minuteman Road Club, Psyclone Sports produces bicycle races to help further the growth of cycling in every form. Participating in training races and group training rides throughout the week, the team builds strong relationships with existing cyclists while encouraging the participation of new riders. Team riders give bicycle safety demonstrations at area schools and participate in bicycle advocacy projects. In addition to promoting the health and fitness benefits that cycling offers, Psyclone Sports continually strives to increase awareness of cycling as an eco-friendly means of transportation. |
